One night in the SciFi days of Caption This!, it became a running gag to try to jam in as many references to lame, one hit wonder bands as one could to as many captions as one could. The more obscure lame band you could think of, the better, and it didn't hurt if you could reference the lame band's one hit as well. Years later, the lame band caps were compiled on one of the caption galleries (I forget which), and dubbed 'Lame Band Night' in commemoration of that night. Although the majority of the lame band caps occurred that one night, they still lingered around as a running gag afterwards.
